This cartoon is a visual pun.

At the bar there are 3 screws:

– *Phillip on the left* is a Phillips-head screw. You can tell by the cross `+` on his head. He’s wearing sunglasses and having a martini.

– *Pam and her friend on the right* are flat-head screws. You can tell by the single straight line `-` on their heads.

One says to the other:

> “Don’t beat yourself up, Pam. That’s Phillip. It takes something very special to turn his head.”

The joke works two ways:

*1. Romantic meaning:* “to turn his head” means to make him attracted to you.

*2. Literal meaning:* You literally cannot turn a Phillips-head screw with a flat-head screwdriver. You need a special tool — a Phillips screwdriver.

So Pam didn’t fail because she’s not attractive. She failed because she’s technically the wrong type to ever turn him.
