The Tree Dare and Mom’s Wisdom
One day after school, a boy challenged a girl:
“I dare you to climb that tree!”
The girl laughed and said, “Watch me!” and climbed right up. The boy stood right under her, looking up.
That night the girl told her mom what happened. Her mom smiled and said:
“Sweetheart, sometimes people dare you to do things not because of the dare itself, but because of why they want you to do it.”
She held her daughter’s hand and added:
“I’m proud of you for being brave. But next time someone dares you, ask yourself 3 questions:
- Am I doing this for me, or just for them?
- Am I safe here?
- Do I feel comfortable?“
The girl nodded. That day she learned two things: how to climb a tree, and how to protect her own boundaries.
Moral: Being brave is great, but knowing when and why you do something is even better. And talking to mom about everything? That’s the best habit of all.
